3. Receive digital content that is as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose.

The CRA also provides consumers with the right to return faulty goods, obtain a repair or replacement, or a full refund within 30 days of purchase. It also extends the period for returning faulty goods to six months after purchase, which is a significant extension from the previous three-month period.

The UTCCR, on the other hand, focuses on contractual terms that may be unfair and disadvantageous to consumers. The regulation applies to all standard consumer contracts, including terms and conditions that are often buried in small print. It prohibits terms that:

1. Are contrary to the requirement of good faith;

2. Cause a significant imbalance in the parties` rights and obligations to the detriment of the consumer;

3. Excludes or limits the consumer`s legal rights under the CRA or any other legislation.

The regulation provides a significant safeguard against businesses that might try to insert unfair terms in their contracts, such as charging customers excessive fees or limiting their right to claim compensation for damages.

Both the CRA and the UTCCR aim to provide consumers with clear and enforceable rights when engaging in business transactions. They also provide businesses with a clear framework to follow when dealing with consumers, ensuring that they comply with their legal obligations.
